When all is said and done and the "rubber meets the road", can you really shoot to "stop" someone who intends to do you or your loved ones harm?  Or, will you freeze up like some of the women on Lifetime TV shows and become a statistic?  Just a question.  What circumstance would it take for you to shoot to "stop" someone?

I don't think most people would take pleasure in taking somebody out; however, if it came down to me or them...self preservation will kick in. As for my loved ones, most of them shoot almost as well as me (we have family time at the range). I think that maybe we should practice more Real Life scenarios to better prepare them to shoot a person instead of just a target though. What do you think?

TRIGGERMAN,
I think it is a great idea to have family time at the range. I do the same with mine and my kids are great shots. I do believe that spending some more time on "real life" scenarios will better prepare them for what could happen out there. Role playing at home with a toy gun can even assist with the additional training. And as always...practice, practice and when you get through...practice a little more. Thanks for the comment.

I have never fired a hangun before but want to get my CHL for defensive purposes. I read that it is recommended to have fired one to better be prepared for the all day course. Is this okay to still register for the class?

Yes, it is ok. I have had several students who have never fired before to come to class and pass all tests. it is; howver reccommended that you practice before class if you have the time. most ranges will let you rent a gun for about $25 to practice with. call me for more information, please.
